The number of windows is only one part of assessing a window cleaning job. Size, design, accessibility, screens, tracks, existing residue and the condition of the glass can all affect the amount of work involved.
Glaive therefore assesses window cleaning according to the actual property and agreed scope rather than assuming every window requires the same amount of work.

Combine it with another service
Window cleaning can be requested separately or added to another Glaive booking where sufficient time is available and the windows fall within the agreed access limits.

Accessible windows can be assessed as part of an end-of-lease cleaning quotation.
Post-construction
Suitable accessible glass can be included within an agreed post-construction or handover cleaning scope.
Ground-floor and safely accessible windows
Glaive's window service is deliberately limited to work that can be completed within our defined safe-access arrangements.
External window cleaning is limited to ground-floor windows accessible from ground level or, where suitable and safe, using a three-step ladder.
Glaive does not advertise high-rise or specialist work-at-height window cleaning.
The use of a three-step ladder remains subject to stable ground, adequate working space, weather conditions and the individual window being safely reachable. A window will not be cleaned using the ladder simply because it is physically possible to reach it if the working position is not considered appropriate.

Assess access
Photographs or additional information may be requested to establish accessibility, window type and condition.
Agree the scope
The windows, surfaces and additional items such as tracks or screens are identified before the work begins.
Complete the clean
Glaive cleans the agreed accessible windows according to their condition and the confirmed scope of work.
Window condition matters
Window cleaning improves the cleanliness of the glass and other agreed accessible components, but the final appearance can also be affected by the existing condition of the window.
Scratches, mineral deposits, hard-water staining, paint, adhesive, silicone, building residue, damaged glass, deteriorated frames or other conditions may not be removable through ordinary window cleaning.
Where Glaive identifies a condition that may require specialist treatment or could create a risk of damaging the glass, frame, coating or surrounding surface, that work may be excluded or discussed with the client before proceeding.
Glaive therefore does not promise that every mark, stain or imperfection will be removed. The service is based on completing the agreed cleaning work with reasonable care according to the condition encountered.
Window cleaning is assessed individually
The amount of work required can vary significantly between properties, so window cleaning is assessed according to the actual windows and requested service.
Useful information includes:
- Approximate number of windows
- Internal, external or both
- Ground-floor location and accessibility
- Approximate window size
- Window type and configuration
- Current condition of the glass
- Whether tracks are required
- Whether screens are required
- Glass doors or other accessible glass surfaces
- Whether window cleaning is being combined with another Glaive service
Photographs may be requested where they help establish access, condition and the amount of work required before the service is confirmed.
Clear service boundaries
- External window cleaning is limited to ground-floor windows within Glaive's safe-access limits.
- A three-step ladder may be used only where the window, ground conditions and surrounding working area allow safe access.
- Upper-storey, roof-access, high-rise and specialist work-at-height window cleaning are not provided.
- Windows requiring unsafe leaning, overreaching or access from unsuitable surfaces will not be cleaned.
- Tracks, screens and frames are included only where specifically agreed.
- Damaged, cracked, loose or otherwise unsafe windows may be excluded from cleaning.
- Specialist removal of hard-water deposits, paint, cement, silicone, adhesive or construction residue is not automatically included.
- Glaive does not guarantee removal of permanent staining, scratching, mineral deposits or defects in the glass.
- External work may be postponed where rain, wind, extreme weather or other conditions make the work unsuitable or unsafe.
